The London Borough of Redbridge (LBR) declared a local climate emergency in June 2019. In its Climate Change Action Plan, the council sets ambitious goals to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030 and carbon zero by 2050.
Inspired by the plan, we are considering developing the South Woodford Environmental Charter. Our objective will be to encourage community participation from residents, schools, and businesses to work towards the common goals of reducing waste, cutting emissions and promoting sustainable choices.
The Charter will likely focus on these five priorities:
- Promoting cleaner journeys
- Boosting plant and tree growth
- Reducing waste
- Improving the sustainability of buildings
- Encouraging individuals to live more sustainably
