Our regular sessions address many of the issues which may concern you regarding the South Woodford environment. They are great opportunities to enjoy the outdoors, meet your neighbours and learn new skills. Regular events include gardening sessions at the Orchard and our mini wildflower meadow at Eastwood Green, and litter picking!
Community Orchard
Since 2021, we’ve transformed a pocket of green space into a forest garden. It’s a sustainable and low-maintenance approach to gardening that mimics the diversity of a natural forest. A mix of plants, trees and shrubs grow together as an ecosystem, increasing biodiversity and creating healthy soil. They also provide food for humans and wildlife! Over the years, we’ve planted trees, built bug hotels and planted numerous edible plants, all with help from volunteers.
Eastwood Green

The smallest of spaces can create the biggest impacts on our health and wellbeing. That’s why we’ve reimagined this semi-circle of forgotten green space opposite the roundabout on George Lane as a vibrant communal area filled with diverse plants, benches, and pathways. Another invaluable addition to South Woodford’s urban landscape!
Litter picking
Join our friendly group of volunteers and help keep our streets clean. We meet once a month (every third Sunday) and often collect over 20 bags of rubbish! We sort as much as we can for recycling, helping to reduce landfill waste.
We meet at 11am at the Community Orchard on the corner of Primrose Road and Mulberry Way, E18 1ED.
No experience is needed. We provide all the equipment (picks, hoops, hi-vis vests and gloves). We also have equipment for ‘mini’ pickers, who are often the most energetic of all. Even four-legged friends are welcome! Please get in touch to let us know if you’re coming but you’re still welcome just to turn up on the day.
If you want to help keep our streets clean, green, and beautiful, reporting issues like fly-tipping and potholes is easy with Love Clean Streets. Simply download the app and provide a few details about the location. Redbridge Council’s Street Cleansing Team will take it from there.
Repair Cafe
This initiative saves items going into landfill by offering a free repair service so that your household appliances, clothes, bikes and items such as watches, etc, can be repaired and used for longer!
